This week I have been focused on the newest project on my radar…a historic rambling adobe built in the 1800’s just north of Santa Fe, New Mexico. This particular property has so much history—originally serving as a stagecoach stop on the El Camino Real. Of course, with history often comes deferred maintenance, neglect, and serious wear and tear on the home…so needless to say I have my work cut out for me!
This renovation project is set to start within the month, so there is a lot of legwork to do in the meantime. Being mindful to preserve the home’s historic character with the renovation and design, I have been treasure hunting for older pieces that can be restored as part of this project. Yesterday, I had the good fortune of stumbling upon a vintage metal desk in great condition that would be perfect for the home’s intimate library space. It has seen some years, no doubt, but I know a little makeover will create a beautiful and unique piece in this home.
Stay tuned for the finished product and also to see how this historic space comes back to life…!
